4. Academic activities
Theoretical lessons: 62 h.
According to the schedules established by the center.
Methodology: participative master class with the necessary didactic and pedagogical resources.
Seminars: 50 h.
According to the organization and schedules established by the center.
Methodology: groups of approximately 13 students are developed. They consist of a theoretical introduction, a practical demonstration and a learning activity in which students have the opportunity to acquire and improve their skills and competence in nursing interventions, procedures and techniques. Depending on the activities, smaller groups are organized to encourage practice, discussion or case resolution.
In these seminars, the contents are closely related to the topics of the subject. Demonstrations of nursing interventions and subsequent training and rehearsal by the students are performed. On other occasions, simulated scenarios of clinical cases partially elaborated by the faculty are presented to be completed by the students.
Portfolio of activities: 8 h.
Methodology: individual and/or group activities/assignments supervised by the subject's faculty.
Personalized tutorials: in case of need, students have the support of the teaching team of the subject for the realization of face-to-face tutorials on the established days and times. Notwithstanding the above, the faculty will be available through the unizar corporate email and the ADD/Moodle digital platform for the resolution of individual doubts.
5. Assessment system
5.1.1. Tutorial evaluation
a. Description: It is a portfolio of activities that may include one or several works and that is presented in a staggered manner throughout the academic year. In case they are not presented at the indicated times, students may do so in the official evaluation period in first and second call. The evaluation of the activities that comprise the portfolio of activities can be formative or summative. The formative evaluation through tutorials has as objective to detect the difficulties and progress of the students and to provide them with feedback; in this case, the result of the evaluation is not taken into account in the calculation of the grade. The summative evaluation (evaluation of the work presented) aims to quantify the degree of student learning; this result is taken into account in the calculation of the final grade of the subject. The portfolio activities can be carried out individually or in groups, following the indications of the teacher of the subject, and in a more or less autonomous way. The specific indications for the realization of these activities will be available to students on the ADD/Moodle platform.
b. Levels of demand: In the case of the summative evaluation, it will be necessary to achieve a minimum grade of 5 out of 10 in each of the proposed activities to be taken into account in the calculation of the final grade of the Fundamentals of Nursing subject.
c. Evaluation criteria: The specific evaluation criteria for each activity will be communicated to students sufficiently in advance through the ADD/Moodle platform. In general, it is expected that students, individually or in groups, will be able to:
-Conduct information searches from valid and reliable sources.
-Synthesize information and present it in the required format in a professional and scholarly manner, adding citations and bibliographic references as appropriate.
-Use critical thinking to select and interpret information, and use it to carry out the indicated activities
-Apply nursing methodology (when appropriate) in the approach to clinical cases and preparation of care plans.
-Achieve a sufficient level of involvement and contribute to teamwork when appropriate.
d. Weighting on the final grade: 2 points out of 10.
5.1.2. Practical seminars:
a. Description:
During the practical seminars, students will have the opportunity to learn and demonstrate practical skills to perform a series of Nursing Interventions and clinical case resolution. The evaluation of these practical seminars will be carried out in two ways:
- In a formative manner. During the practical sessions, the skills and acquisition of competencies in the procedures and techniques will be evaluated by the faculty.
- Summative. Two issues will be taken into account:
a.1. Attendance and participation in these seminars is mandatory to pass the subject. A Pass/Fail will be obtained.
a.2. Completion of multiple-choice questionnaires about the content on which the practice of these nursing procedures and interventions is based. These tests are carried out throughout the term during the practical seminars. A grade between 0 and 10 will be obtained.
If any of the above questions are not met, see the following section:
b. Levels of demand:
b.1. It is necessary to attend/complete each and every one of the practical seminars. In case of missing more than two sessions , whether or not excused, the criterion of compulsory attendance to the seminars will be considered as not met and a practical exam must be taken and passed for the sessions that have not been attended. This exam will take place during the official evaluation period in first and second call.
b.2. Quizzes: in case of failing or not taking one or more of the summative evaluation quizzes, the student may opt to pass them in the official evaluation period in the first and second call. A minimum grade of 5 out of 10 in the questionnaires is required.
c. Criteria:
Attend and complete the practical seminars in order to pass them.
The questionnaires are evaluated from 0 to 10. A minimum grade of 5 must be achieved in order to average with the rest of the evaluation activities of the subject.
The practical exam consists of carrying out a correct practical demonstration of each nursing procedure or intervention, as well as answering orally to questions that the teacher may ask during the exam. It will be evaluated as “passed” or “failed”.
d. Weighting on the final grade: The quizzes are worth 3 points out of the 10 points of the total grade of the subject.
5.1.3. Written exam
a. Description: This is an individual objective test consisting of a questionnaire of short questions of one hour's duration. Two eliminatory mid-term exams are held at the end of each term, in January and in June. The second exam coincides with the official June exam. The questions are of a theoretical nature and deal with the subject matter explained in class and/or required readings.
Students who do not pass this evaluation test in the first call will have the opportunity to sit for the second call in July.
b. Levels of demand: In order to pass the subject, students must achieve at least a 5 out of 10 in each of the tests. The grades of the midterm tests passed up to and including the July session will be saved.
c. Criteria: This test evaluates the answers to the questions posed in each of the exams.
d. Weighting on the final grade: 5 points out of 10.
Rating system
(pursuant to article 5 of Royal Decree 1125/2003, of September 5, 2003)
0 - 4.9 Fail
5 - 6.9 Pass
7 - 8.9 Notable
9 - 9.5 Outstanding

THE GRADES OBTAINED WILL BE KEPT UNTIL THE SECOND CALL OF THE CURRENT ACADEMIC YEAR, BUT NOT FOR THE FOLLOWING YEAR IN CASE OF A NEW ENROLLMENT.
For further questions related to evaluation, the Learning Evaluation Regulations (Agreement of December 22, 2010, of the Governing Council of the University of Zaragoza) will be applied.
In the evaluation and activities, the characteristics of the center where the degree is taught will be taken into account for Huesca and Teruel, always ensuring the acquisition of competencies.
